Ambassador: Vietnam aims to further cooperation with Belarus

Belarus is a reliable friend and partner for Vietnam, and we will continue to actively cooperate in all areas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu told the media following the inauguration of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 25 March, BelTA learned.

"It was a great honor to participate in such a landmark event in Belarus, which undoubtedly left a deep impression on me. The inauguration ceremony is a significant milestone in the life of the state. I am happy that I attended this event at the Palace of Independence,” the diplomat emphasized.

"In 2024, Vietnam and Belarus have significantly intensified contacts at all levels, including the exchange of delegations led by ministers, heads of agencies, regions, public organizations and scientific institutions," Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu pointed out. "The cooperation between our countries is picking up steam in all areas."

The ambassador highlighted politics, economy and trade as the key areas of cooperation. Cooperation in education, culture and tourism is also gaining momentum.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngu also pointed out the importance of the intergovernmental agreement on visa waiver for ordinary passport holders, which was reached in 2023 during the official visit of former Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko to Vietnam. According to the agreement, citizens of both countries holding ordinary passports can stay visa-free for up to 30 days per entry, with a total stay of up to 90 days within a calendar year.

The ambassador expressed confidence that the implementation of this agreement will give fresh impetus to the Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation. "Vietnam intends to continue to strengthen cooperation with Belarus," he concluded.
