The Regulations on the XVIII Vitebsk open personal and team chess tournament in memory of tank ace Andrei Mikhailovich Usov, KV-1 crew and company Zinovy Grigoryevich Kolobanov have been published:
The XVIII personal and team open chess tempo tournament is dedicated to the world-famous tank ace, gunner Andrei Mikhailovich Usov, a native of the Dubrovensky district, whose name is listed in the "Golden Book of St. Petersburg". The crew of the KV-1 tank shot down 22 German tanks from an ambush in one battle on 08/20-1941 near Krasnogvardeisk (Gatchina), and as part of Zinovy Grigoryevich Kolobanov's company, he destroyed a total of 43 tanks from among two German tank divisions, which prevented the plan for the lightning capture of Leningrad.
The purpose of the tournament is to popularize chess, further develop it in the collectives of institutions of the Vitebsk region, improve the skills and qualifications of professional athletes, identify the strongest teams, as well as identify the strongest chess players in the individual competition, popularize and further promote chess in the regions and districts of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, etc.
The organizers of the chess tournament are the Vitebsk Regional Council of the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans, GFSK Vitebsk.
Place and time of the competition:
The tempo tournament is held on 08/18/2024 at 10.30 am at the address: Vitebsk st. Sovetskaya 7, Vitebsk State University Chess Club (registration from 8.30 to 9.45).
The competition system:
A personal tournament with the participation of 60 chess players is held in seven qualifying sports and gender-age groups (nominations) according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds, in accordance with the FIDE Chess Rules and the ESH tournament rules. Time control: 5 minutes to the end of the game with the addition of 3 seconds for each turn, starting from the first. Taking into account the number of declared players, the organizing committee may adopt others: the system and rules of the tournament. * The nomination is formed with the participation of 10 or more chess players.
The team standings are based on the results of a personal tournament. The places of the winning teams are determined by the sum of the points of the three best participants from the team.
The winners will be determined individually in seven sports and gender-age nominations from the declared ones, with the participation of 10 or more chess players, in the nominations "Main Tournament" (grandmasters, masters and candidates for masters of sports with a rating above 1800 - without age restrictions), "Male veterans" (born before 08/01/1964), women (until 08/01/1969), "Women" (without age restrictions), "Rural chess players" (rural areas of the Vitebsk region), "Amateurs" (athletes of I, II, III, IV categories and without a category), "High school students" (from 10 to 16 years old), "Boys and children under 10 years of age" (born on 01.08.2014 and younger)
Nonresident players from districts (cities) of Belarus and the Russian Federation can take part in the tournament in any of the nominations (within the total quota for Russians of 15 people, inform the organizing committee about participation before 08/07/24). In case of applications from more than 60 athletes and a competition among the declared players, an advantage for participation in the tournament applicants, regardless of their rating, titles, who applied earlier, have. After registration of 60 applications, their acceptance will be terminated.
Players who have a doctor's permit are allowed to participate in the competition on the basis of a personal or team application submitted to the organizing committee in a timely manner. The application specifies: full name, country, region, sports title, category, exact date of birth, name and composition of the team.
The application for participation in the tempo tournament by nonresidents is sent by e-mail or fax before 08/10/24, inclusive* to the Vitebsk Regional Council of Veterans of Combat Operations at the address: 210010, Vitebsk, Pravdy str. 18, office 20 (personal additional name clarification of the team composition until 08/12/24, inclusive).
