A beautiful but forbidden poppy color

From June 1 to September 15, employees of the internal affairs bodies conduct a special program "Poppy". As part of the activities, special attention is paid to the identification and destruction of wild and specially grown plants containing psychoactive substances - poppy and hemp.

On June 15, officers of the Polotsk District Department of Internal Affairs found wild poppy bushes growing in a field of about 35 hectares belonging to one of the agricultural enterprises in the region. In the shortest possible time, the planting of the prohibited plant was destroyed.

We remind you that administrative and criminal liability is provided for the cultivation of narcotic crops. Article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses provides for a fine of up to 20 basic units for sowing or growing drugs without the purpose of selling or manufacturing narcotic drugs. And also Article 329 of the Criminal Code provides for criminal liability in the form of imprisonment up to 3 years.

In case of detection of illegal poppy and hemp crops, we ask residents of the Polotsk region to inform the Department of Internal Affairs by calling 102.

At present, 4 growths of wild poppy bushes have been identified in the Polotsk region.
