In the Glubokoe region, forests are annually restored on 140 hectares of last year's fellings.

The nursery of the Glubokoe experimental forestry enterprise is the only one in the country with a full cycle of obtaining planting material. For more than twenty years it has deservedly held the honorary title of exemplary, providing all forestry enterprises in the region with planting material. Colleagues from Vileika, Molodechno, and the Narochansky and Braslav Lakes national parks come here for experience.
“With the onset of the season, at least 3-4 forestry enterprises are loaded with seedlings and saplings every day,” noted the head of the nursery, Evgeniy Tarasenko . – Now there are trucks from Lepel and Bogushevsk waiting for loading; they will take away more than one thousand seedlings. In the spring, they will all end up in the open ground of reforestation areas and landscaping areas, including in the Glubokoe region. On average, 140 hectares of last year's clearings are reforested here every year. This work is now in full swing. Various organizations in the district, which are actively involved in the republican action “Adnovim lasy razam,” help the team to quickly and efficiently implement it. – We prepare areas for such work in advance. Tree branches left over from logging are crushed on them, and strips are cut with a plow. There is a forest planting machine and special equipment for planting. But no one has come up with anything better than the Kolesov Sword, invented almost 150 years ago,” emphasized the chief forester of the forestry enterprise, Viktor Mikhnevich . “Our workers and many of those who constantly help us in restoring the forest masterfully wield this shovel.
By the way, the forestry enterprise begins this work with the procurement of seeds. For this purpose, he has a plantation of 100 hectares of elite trees, where he collects pine and spruce cones. They are dried, seeds are extracted and planted. By the way, it is very interesting to watch the process of sowing seeds into cassettes. Like water in a river, a conveyor flows through the huge hall, the mechanisms of which fill the cassettes with peat, soak and disinfect it, put a seed in each cell, and cover it with a special material that retains moisture. At the exit, the cassettes are collected in large piles and taken to the greenhouse. During a shift, approximately 3 thousand pieces are moved from the workshop, into which up to 200 thousand pine or spruce seeds are planted.
In the greenhouse they must germinate, get stronger, after which they are planted in the ground. The weather in the greenhouse is monitored by its own weather station, determining the temperature and humidity, according to which computers will adjust the optimal microclimate.
