Agrarians of the Vitebsk region start mass sowing

While some farms in the southernmost regions of our country are entering the home stretch of the sowing campaign, farmers of the Vitebsk region are only starting mass sowing due to difficult weather conditions.

According to the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, on the morning of March 26, the region's farmers plowed more than 7.5 thousand hectares of soil, sowed over two thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops.

For the sowing season, agricultural organizations have accumulated more than 71 thousand tons of the active ingredient of mineral fertilizers.

In the fall of last year, farmers of the northern region sowed over 201 thousand hectares of winter cereals and almost 60 thousand hectares of cruciferous crops, 6 thousand hectares of these crops - for green fodder. 227 thousand hectares of winter were raised. Taking into account these volumes, this spring it will be necessary to sow a total of 308 thousand hectares of spring crops in the Vitebsk region.

Scientific and technological support of agricultural enterprises of the northern region for the period of spring field work by the leadership of the region was entrusted to the Vitebsk Zonal Institute of Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
