The CIS will update the agreement on the investigation of accidents at work outside the country of residence

The CIS plans to update the agreement on the procedure for investigating industrial accidents that occur to workers while they are outside their state of residence. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

A meeting of the expert group to agree on a draft protocol on amending the agreement on the procedure for investigating industrial accidents that occurred with workers while they were outside their state of residence was held on January 18 at the headquarters of the Commonwealth. The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee.

The experts reviewed the comments and proposals received from states regarding the draft protocol and made a number of additions and clarifications to the text. It was decided to hold the next peer review of the document in March of this year.

The press service noted that the meeting was the first meeting of the expert group to agree on a draft protocol on amending the agreement on the procedure for investigating industrial accidents that occurred with workers while they were outside their state of residence. The agreement was adopted by the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in 1994. Its participants are Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

From 2017 to 2021, at the initiative and on the basis of proposals from member countries of the Regional Alliance of Labor Inspections of the CIS and Mongolia, whose activities are aimed at exchanging experience in improving control and supervisory activities in the labor sphere, work was carried out to prepare proposals for changes into the agreement. The initiative to update the document was supported by the Advisory Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
