Investments in Belarus’ tourism infrastructure described as significant

State programs help build tourism capacities, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Tatiana Brantsevich said during a meeting of the standing interagency commission on state programs on 5 November, BelTA learned from the press-service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.

Attending the event were representatives of the Economy Ministry, the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Defense Ministry, and the Culture Ministry. The participants discussed adjustments to the state programs "Perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland", "Hospitable Belarus", and "Culture of Belarus".

According to Tatiana Brantsevich, the state has invested significant funds in the modernization of the tourism industry, new facilities, tourism personnel training and promotion of the Belarusian cultural heritage. This consistent approach has helped to encourage Belarusians to travel more and more often around Belarus.

"We really have a lot to be proud of: Mir Castle and Nesvizh Castle, the gems of Belarusian architecture, are parts of the UNESCO World Heritage list. Belarus has a well-developed system of museums, which preserve national traditions, crafts and trades. Agro-estates and health resorts have become the national brand. Both Belarusians and foreigners eagerly holiday there," she said. "For these reasons, the commission will certainly support those activities that contribute to preserving the historical memory and boosting Belarus' image as a place to get new vivid impressions and have safe vacations."
