Ambassador names most promising avenues for Belarus-Türkiye cooperation
Belarus and Türkiye are not economic competitors, quite the opposite, the two economies complement each other, so everything is in place for bilateral cooperation to advance to a new level, including in the investment field, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Belarus Güçlü Cem Işık told the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
The ambassador emphasized that Belarus and Türkiye are friendly nations, so it is only natural to strive to expand relations on all levels and in all fields. “Türkiye is interested in Belarusian goods, since the economies of our countries do not compete but complement each other. As you know, during their last personal meeting, the presidents of our countries set a goal to increase bilateral trade up to $1.5 billion. We did not only fulfill this task, we overachieved it. Bilateral trade hit $2 billion last year. And now we are working hard to maintain this momentum in bilateral trade. We are interested in all kinds of products manufactured in Belarus without exceptions,” Güçlü Cem Işık noted.
The ambassador added that new joint investment projects involving Türkiye may be launched in Belarus. “Turkish companies intend to expand their presence and investments here. Those who come here for the first time are studying broad investment opportunities available in the country. And we, as an embassy, are actively working to overcome all kinds of barriers to investment,” he said.
According to the Turkish ambassador, there is still room for growth in the tourism industry. “When I came to Belarus, I saw how beautiful your country is, and I never miss an opportunity to tell my compatriots about it. We are interested in promoting tourism and trade in a balanced manner,” Güçlü Cem Işık emphasized.
