Victims of careless smoking: tragic consequences of two fires in the Vitebsk region

Over the past day, two people died in fires in the Vitebsk region, the press service of the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

On February 23 at 11:33 a.m., rescuers from Miory went to a report of a fire in an apartment on Zvezdnaya Street in the agro-town of Yazno. At the time of the arrival of the units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the apartment, located on the first floor of an apartment building, was filled with smoke.

On the floor in the living room, rescuers found a man born in 1989, who was handed over to the ambulance team. After resuscitation, doctors pronounced him dead.

The apartment belongs to a pensioner born in 1956. With her permission, a 22-year-old young man lived there, who was at work at the time of the fire and was not injured. The deceased turned out to be his guest. As a result of the fire in the apartment, the ceiling, walls, floor, and property were damaged.

Another message about the fire was received by the Glubokoye rescuers at 19-43. A residential building on Tsentralnaya Street in the village of Stanuli caught fire. At the time of the arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a wooden one-story house was engulfed in fire.

A woman born in 1951 and her partner, a pensioner born in 1951, lived in the house. Both pensioners were in the house at the time of the fire. The woman left the house on her own and was not injured. The body of her roommate was found by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the floor in the room.

The fire damaged the walls, ceiling and property in the house. According to preliminary versions, in both cases, carelessness when smoking by the dead could lead to fires.
