A fundraiser has been announced for the restoration of the monument to the Red Army soldiers and partisans who died during the Great Patriotic War in the village of Paulye, Ushachi district, Vitebsk region.
The Vitebsk Regional Coordination Council of Public Associations and Political Parties initiated a fundraising campaign in March-April 2025 for the restoration and improvement of military burial sites and memorial complexes in the Vitebsk region.
This decision was made by the activists at a meeting of the coordinating council in preparation for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, head of the regional organization of the RPO "Belaya Rus" Dmitry Demidov noted that perpetuating the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland is one of the main areas in the work on the patriotic education of the population. This work is carried out in the country constantly, at a high organizational level, including with the participation of public associations and political parties. And now the region's activists must carry out the necessary information work to raise funds for the restoration of the monument to the fallen Red Army soldiers and partisans in the village of Paulye, Ushachi district.
It is this monument, erected in 1952, that is to be restored first of all. The rest of the funds raised will be used to improve other military burials.
In total, there are 1622 military burials on the territory of the Vitebsk region. More than 493 thousand dead defenders of the Motherland are buried in them. The names of 215 thousand people are known. Over the past year, 17 military graves were registered.
